The Dakar Rally will move its 2027 edition out of Saudi Arabia, which has hosted the race every year since 2020, because of regional security concerns linked to attacks by Iran-backed Houthis.
Organizers Amaury Sport Organisation confirmed the decision Sunday, saying the January event would move to another country, with the new location to be announced in the coming days.
The organizers described the move as a one-time decision and said the rally would return to Saudi Arabia in 2028 for its 50th edition.
