Iran has made no new proposal to Pakistani mediators and rejects a reported offer to reopen the Strait of Hormuz in exchange for lifting the US naval blockade, the IRGC-affiliated Tasnim news agency reported citing an informed source.
The source dismissed an Al Arabiya report that Tehran had proposed such an exchange to Washington as “lies and fantasy.”
“Iran fundamentally does not accept any equation of the Strait of Hormuz in exchange for the blockade,” the source said, adding that Tehran would circumvent the blockade through its own methods and ultimately break it.
The source said Iran stood by seven conditions formally conveyed through mediators.
The source said an earlier “seven-day plan,” setting out Tehran’s demands for reopening the strait, had already been passed to Washington, adding that insecurity in the strait would persist until all Iranian demands were met, including an end to disruption of Iran’s ports and shipping.
