The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said on Monday that there is no disagreement with the country's political leadership on the Iran crisis.
"The IDF is focused on its missions and maintains a high state of alert on all fronts, in light of various warnings and the sensitivity of the current period," the military's statement read. "The operational activities and considerations of the IDF are solely security-related, professional, matter-of-fact and statesmanlike, and any other discourse is misleading and irrelevant."
The IDF's comments came in response to reports that Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir refused to conduct an armed action against Iran ahead of the Knesset election, clashing with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Earlier in the day, Defense Minister Israel Katz denied that an attack was planned and that there is a disagreement between the government and the IDF.
