Brazil's electoral authority announced that Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva has won his fourth term after beating Senator Flavio Bolsonaro.
Lula took 51.8% of the vote, compared to Bolsonaro's 48.2%, with over 99% of the votes counted, following a late-stage extension of the voting time and what had been, for the most part, a neck-and-neck election.
Bolsonaro, an ally of United States President Donald Trump, won the first round on October 4, making Lula's final victory a rare comeback, one that will see him become the first Brazilian president to be elected four times.
