Former FBI Director James Comey has been charged for a third time on federal criminal charges, this time with leaking national defense information, according to a court filing made public on Monday.
The new indictment, filed in US District Court in Washington, DC, accuses Comey of "knowingly" communicating national defense information to a person "not entitled to receive it" and conspiring with others to violate the law governing the disclosure of such information. The filing alleges that Comey, "through one or more co-conspirators," directed an unidentified individual to share national defense information with a reporter at a national news publication.
Earlier today, a judge ruled that the Trump administration unlawfully fired Comey's daughter, former federal prosecutor Maurene Comey, who had challenged her dismissal in court.
