Evolus outlines $700M 2028 revenue target and cost realignment amid market softness

  • CEO David Moatazedi reported that "our second quarter results came in below expectations, reflecting one of the most challenging market environments we've seen in recent years. Jeuveau experienced its first-ever year-over-year decrease since launch more than 6 years ago." He stated that procedural volumes across the U.S. toxin category decelerated further in the second quarter, and the slowdown was especially acute in the final two weeks of the quarter. Moatazedi highlighted that, despite these headwinds, "we continue to gain market share through the first half of the year and are beginning to see early signs of positive momentum entering the third quarter."
  • The company conducted a survey with nearly 200 U.S. customers that indicated "a meaningful rebound in patient volume in the second half of the year," with most practices expecting growth of more than 10%.
  • Evolus revised its 2025 revenue outlook to $295 million to $305 million, representing 11% to 15% growth over 2024, and reset non-GAAP operating expense guidance to $208 million to $213 million, implementing over $25 million in cost savings. Moatazedi explained these were "intentional, long-term changes that allow us to rebalance resources toward customer-facing areas of the business."
  • The U.S. launch of Evolysse generated $9.7 million in revenue, which Moatazedi described as "the strongest first-quarter filler launch in over a decade." The company raised Evolysse’s full-year revenue contribution expectation to 10% to 12%.
  • International expansion continues, with the recent launch of Nuceiva in France and activity in nine markets outside the U.S.
  • Moatazedi said, "We remain on track to achieve $100 million in international revenue by 2028."
  • Chief Medical Officer Rui Avelar discussed a new independent study, stating, "Jeuveau and Dysport had the fastest onset" and "Jeuveau demonstrated the greatest effect" at day 30 and "the longest duration" at day 180 among four FDA-approved neurotoxins. Feedback on Evolysse continues to be positive, described as "very efficient in providing corrections when injected and results in a natural look."
  • Moatazedi reported global net revenue of $69.4 million for the quarter, with $59.7 million from toxin revenue and $9.7 million from HA gels revenue. Reported gross margin was 65.3%, with an adjusted margin of 66.5%.

Outlook

  • Evolus projects total net revenues for 2025 between $295 million and $305 million, reflecting 11% to 15% growth over 2024.
  • The company expects Evolysse to contribute 10% to 12% of total revenue for 2025.
  • Full-year non-GAAP operating expense guidance is now $208 million to $213 million, targeting at least $25 million in annualized savings.
  • Evolus maintains its long-term target of $700 million in revenue and 20% non-GAAP operating income margins by 2028. Management stated these projections are based on "continued performance in our neurotoxin business, both in the U.S. and internationally, along with an increasing contribution from our novel line of injectable hyaluronic acid gels."

Financial Results

  • Second quarter global net revenue was $69.4 million. Toxin revenue accounted for $59.7 million and HA gels revenue $9.7 million.
  • Reported gross margin was 65.3% and adjusted gross margin was 66.5%.
  • GAAP operating expenses for the quarter were $55.5 million; non-GAAP operating expenses were $54 million.
  • Non-GAAP operating loss was $7.9 million.
  • Cash at quarter-end was $61.7 million, down from $67.9 million at the end of Q1, primarily due to inventory purchases ahead of increased tariffs.

Q&A

  • Annabel Eva Samimy, Stifel, asked about the drivers of reduced demand and the specifics behind the late-quarter slowdown, as well as Evolysse inventory. Moatazedi responded that "procedural demand declined high single digits" and that the slowdown was not driven by competition. He added, "we do believe that the initial portion of revenue had a stocking element as well as a pull-through."
  • Marc Harold Goodman, Leerink Partners, pressed for clarity on the improvement in July versus the June slowdown. Moatazedi explained that "accounts will place larger orders in order to maintain their status... That's where we did not see those accounts placing orders as they had in historical at the historic levels."
  • Navann Ty Dietschi, BNP Paribas, inquired about toxin demand trends and achieving Jeuveau revenue targets. Moatazedi cited third-party data confirming a "high single-digit decline" in procedural volume and described promotional adjustments to support pull-through.
  • Uy Sieng Ear, Mizuho, asked about drivers of the anticipated rebound and revenue phasing. Moatazedi said, "we see an incremental improvement sequentially in the toxin market," but warned that consumer headwinds remain.
  • Serge D. Belanger, Needham, questioned consumer sentiment and pricing changes. Moatazedi noted the unique challenges for consumers earning $150,000 or less and stated, "we haven't seen any sort of price increases related to the tariffs yet."
  • Douglas Dylan Tsao, H.C. Wainwright, asked for reconciliation between lowered guidance and early Q3 improvement. Moatazedi clarified, "we see an incremental improvement in the third quarter relative to what we saw in the end of the second quarter."
  • Sam Shimon Eiber, BTIG, asked about Evolysse's go-to-market strategy and the path to 2028 targets. Moatazedi emphasized the positive launch metrics and kept the 2028 outlook unchanged despite current headwinds.

Quarter-over-Quarter Comparison

  • In Q1 2025, Evolus reaffirmed guidance of $345 million to $355 million revenue, projecting 30% to 33% growth, with Evolysse contributing 8% to 10%. In Q2, guidance was reset to $295 million to $305 million, down to 11% to 15% growth, and Evolysse contribution increased to 10% to 12%.
  • Q2 introduced over $25 million in operating expense savings and a leaner cost structure, compared to a higher Q1 expense outlook.
  • Market commentary shifted from confidence in robust growth despite industry headwinds in Q1 to a more circumspect tone in Q2, triggered by the first decline in Jeuveau demand since launch and a sudden drop in late-quarter procedural volumes.
  • Analysts' focus shifted from competitive positioning and launch execution in Q1 to dissecting the reasons for revised guidance and probing the sustainability of new business drivers in Q2.
  • Management's sentiment evolved from assertive confidence in Q1 to a more defensive and measured outlook in Q2, emphasizing cost controls and incremental improvement.

FDA accepts Lantheus’ NDA; selloff on earnings

Lantheus Holdings, Inc. (NASDAQ:LNTH) announced Wednesday that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has accepted a New Drug Application for a new formulation of its F 18 PSMA imaging agent, with a PDUFA date set for March 6, 2026.

The application, filed by Lantheus affiliate Aphelion, aims to introduce a formulation that could increase batch production by approximately 50% compared to the company’s current PSMA PET imaging agent, PYLARIFY.

According to the company, the new formulation increases the radioactive concentration of the agent while maintaining the same diagnostic performance. If approved, Lantheus expects it will enhance supply resilience and potentially expand access to PSMA PET imaging for prostate cancer patients in new geographic locations.

"This formulation is a natural next step in our commitment to advancing PSMA imaging," said Brian Markison, CEO of Lantheus, in the press release statement.

PYLARIFY, Lantheus’ current market-leading PSMA PET imaging agent, has been used in over 500,000 scans across 48 states, Puerto Rico and Washington, D.C., according to company data. The diagnostic tool is indicated for PET imaging of PSMA-positive lesions in men with prostate cancer who have suspected metastasis or recurrence.

Prostate cancer remains the second most frequently diagnosed cancer among men in the U.S., with an estimated 315,000 new cases and more than 35,000 deaths projected for 2025, based on American Cancer Society data cited in the announcement.

The new formulation application comes as part of Lantheus’ strategy to address growing demand for prostate cancer diagnostics. The company stated that the optimized manufacturing process would allow it to serve more patients while maintaining existing quality standards.

In other recent news, Lantheus Holdings reported its first-quarter 2025 earnings, which fell short of analyst expectations. The company announced earnings per share of $1.53, missing the anticipated $1.64, and reported revenue of $372.8 million, below the forecasted $377.79 million. This underperformance led to a decline in the company’s stock in pre-market trading. Additionally, Truist Securities adjusted its outlook on Lantheus by lowering the price target to $117 from the previous $127, while maintaining a Buy recommendation. This revision was prompted by a slight miss in PyLuminate sales during the quarter. Truist analysts highlighted that similar past performances have often resulted in market overreactions, suggesting potential buying opportunities after the stock’s significant sell-off.

KeyBanc Adjusts LifeMD (LFMD) Price Target Amid Business Strategy Shift

KeyBanc has revised its price target for LifeMD (LFMD, Financial), reducing it from $14 to $12 while maintaining an Overweight rating. The adjustment follows a report indicating that LifeMD experienced disappointments in both revenue and earnings during the second quarter. This shortfall was largely attributed to increased customer acquisition costs within its RexMD segment, which negatively impacted sales volumes.

In response, LifeMD is taking strategic steps to diversify its RexMD business operations. This diversification aims to provide more flexible capital allocation options in case of future market disruptions. Such a strategic shift reflects the company's proactive approach to managing potential challenges and optimizing its business model.

LifeMD Inc, a direct-to-patient telehealth company, is positioned within the healthcare sector, specifically under the healthcare providers and services industry. The company offers a comprehensive virtual healthcare platform that integrates clinician-centric electronic medical records, proprietary algorithms for case-load balancing, and digital prescription capabilities, among other features. LifeMD's operations are primarily divided into two segments: Telehealth and WorkSimpli, with the majority of revenue generated from the Telehealth segment.

The global e-Nose market is projected to grow from $29.8 billion in 2025 to $76.5 billion by 2032. Ainos' proprietary smell language model (SLM) aims to digitize scent into machine-readable Smell ID data, positioning AI Nose as a trainable AI platform for complex olfactory signals.

Ex-DOGE staffer nicknamed ‘Big Balls’ left bloodied after savage DC carjacking attempt by 10 juves

A 19-year-old former Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) staffer was beaten and bloodied by a mob of 10 minors early Sunday as he thwarted a carjacking attempt in the nation’s capital, according to DC police.

Edward Coristine, whose LinkedIn handle earned him the nickname “Big Balls” at DOGE, was with a woman near downtown DC when he saw the group of juveniles approach their car and “make a comment about taking the vehicle,” according to a Metropolitan Police Department incident report obtained by The Post.

“At that point, for her safety, [Coristine] pushed his significant other … into the vehicle and turned to deal with the suspects,” the dramatic report continues.

Edward Coristine stopped an attempted carjacking early Sunday, according to DC cops.

“The suspects then began to assault [Coristine],” the ex-DOGE staffer told officers, who rolled up on the scene at the same time he was being attacked.

Officers patrolling the 1400 block of Swann Street NW — a popular area with several shops, bars and restaurants about a mile north of the White House — noticed “a group of approximately ten juveniles surrounding the complainants’ vehicle and assaulting [Coristine],” the report states.

“The officers immediately exited their vehicle, and the juveniles began fleeing on foot,” police said.

DC police were able to nab only two of the young suspects, who were later positively identified by Coristine as being among his attackers.

A 15-year-old male and a 15-year-old female, both from nearby Hyattsville, Md., were arrested and charged with unarmed carjacking.

Coristine was treated on scene by DC Fire and EMS for injuries sustained in the assault, according to DC police.

He is recovering from a broken nose, concussion and black eye, according to a source familiar with the matter.

The group of teenagers “shouted about taking the woman’s car, and then ran across the street,” just before they started to beat Coristine, a source said.

Coristine then pushed his female companion into the driver’s seat and slammed the door.

“The gang tried to open the closed doors and slammed [Coristine] against the car extremely loudly while attacking him,” the source added, noting that the woman called 911 from inside the vehicle while Coristine was being beaten.

The software whiz also had his iPhone 16, valued at $1,000, stolen during the attack.

President Trump shared a photograph of the aftermath of the assault on Coristine early Tuesday afternoon, showing the former DOGE staffer sitting on the ground, bloodied and with his ripped shirt barely hanging on his body.

Trump, 79, raged that “crime in Washington, D.C., is totally out of control” in the post, where he also threatened a federal takeover of the district.

Marko Elez, a one-time colleague of Coristine’s at DOGE, claimed in a social media post that he snapped the photo of his friend shortly after the assault, and described his actions as heroic.

“My friend Big Balls … is a hero,” Elez wrote on X. “I took this photo after Edward protected a young woman from an attempted carjacking by 8 thugs near Dupont Circle.”

“Violence like this in the heart of DC is completely unacceptable.”

Former DOGE chief Elon Musk also posted about the incident on X, without naming Coristine as the victim.

Coristine resigned from DOGE in June, according to Fox News, less than a month after Musk departed from the agency.

John Kerry’s ritzy blue city neighborhood rocked as drug addicts ‘overrun’ cobblestone streets

Residents in a ritzy Boston, Massachusetts, neighborhood are complaining that city leadership isn’t doing enough to control open drug use, with locals saying the situation has gotten “very scary.”

During a Boston City Council meeting in October 2024, Beacon Hill resident Katherine Kennedy said she hasn’t seen this level of illegal drug use in Beacon Hill, according to Boston 25.

According to Realtor.com, the average home price in Beacon Hill is $2.3 million.

“Prior to this year, I’ve never seen the Boston Common, Cambridge Street or the Esplanade get this overrun with drug paraphernalia or folks in crisis,” Kennedy said.

Kennedy added, “As a mother of two small children, this is very scary.”

The mother of two now carries a sharps container, meant for needles, in her diaper bag.

2024 report compiled by the Boston Public Health Commission reported that there was a 47.1% increase in drug usage mortality rates between 2020-2022 compared to 2017-2019 in the Beacon Hill, Back Bay, North end and West End communities, which are near each other.

Similarly, data compiled by the Boston Police Department indicates that there was an 8% increase in overall theft incidents in 2025 compared to the five-year average in the area, including Beacon Hill.

In 2022, Democratic Boston Mayor Michelle Wu helped launch a needle exchange program, including the distribution of free pipes that can be used to smoke crack or methamphetamine in a “harm reduction” strategy.

“Every step that we take has to also be about immediately saving lives,” Wu said at the time. “We have seen a big drop and data proven success with the parts of this program, the goals of this program, which are to ensure there is a stop to communicable diseases that are preventable.”

For Kennedy, who’s a resident of Beacon Hill, the program has led to a dramatic increase in needles seen on her kids’ walk to school.

“I pass discarded needles as I walk my 5-year-old to her public school every day,” Kennedy said, according to the Boston Herald. “Having to keep needles away from my kids as I walk them to preschool is unacceptable.”

“Boston and the surrounding region is not doing enough to actually disrupt the cycle of addiction that has led to this crisis,” she added.

Robert Charles, former assistant secretary at the US State Department’s Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs, who’s running for governor in Maine, told Fox News Digital that Americans don’t fully understand the downstream impact of illegal drugs.

“It’s a sequence of events. You get dramatic increases in the drug presence, which is a testing of law enforcement and political leadership. If the political leadership and law enforcement either don’t have the resources or don’t have the political will, you gradually see an increase in the drug trafficking itself and, of course, in overdoses,” Charles said. “The burglaries go up, the robberies go up, the assaults go up. The domestic abuse goes up. Something like 80% of all domestic abuse is tied to polydrug use.”
