NYC socialists use Cal. playbook for anti-ICE teams to monitor Home Depot, other workplaces

 They’re California schemin’!

New York City socialists are importing even more aggressive tactics from their comrades on the Left Coast as they open up a new front in their fight to obstruct federal immigration agents, the Post has learned.

Delis, car washes, gas stations, hardware stores like Lowe’s and Home Depot — any workplace known to attract illegal migrants — will be infiltrated by teams of at least five to interfere with a fed takedown.

At a meeting last week in Midtown hosted by the Chinese Communist Party-linked People’s Forum, activists urged Big Apple socialists to form “patrol” teams, with roles that include not one but two videographers, a photographer, a notetaker and someone in charge of communications, all in an attempt to intimidate ICE.

Each team would target one workplace, posting at each corner as they wait for ICE agents to descend.

“Look, this is risky,” admitted Caleb Soto, a Los Angeles lawyer with the National Day Laborer Organizing Network.

“There is nothing I can say to guarantee your safety, but by using these filming tactics and saying it out loud . . . it’s a signal to them . . . if you keep doing what f–ked up thing you’re doing, I’m going to make sure I get it on record. And it scares them, honestly. They don’t like it. That’s why they get so upset.”

The event began with the crowd of about 200 enthusiastically chanting “ICE out.” Attendees were served a lavish breakfast that included eggs, French toast, empanadas and tamales, by the group that gets at least $20 million from China-based former software exec Neville Roy Singham.

Soto instructed attendees not to back down.

“Now they’ll say, ‘Get the f–k out of my face.’ And what you say, ‘I am not intervening in this action. I am a legal observer,'” he said.

Soto also told activists to use encrypted Signal group chats with “neutral titles” to make a rotating schedule that ensures a team member will be at each site most of the day in anticipation of an ICE raid.

“A lot of times it’s been really fast — like 15 minutes, if that, in and out. And it’s really hard if you’re not there already to actually respond,” advised Soto.

“If we don’t have those roles prepared, we’re going to be caught in chaos, and they thrive off of that chaos, but they fail when we’re organized,” he added.

The tactics have been used by the Los Angeles chapter of the DSA since June, one of its leaders told a “Solidarity Melts ICE” mass call Tuesday night, attended by far-left Astoria Councilmember Tiffany Caban.

“There’s a lot of f–kery that goes on with that group,” blasted Thomas Malone, a San Fernando Valley DSA leader, referring to ICE agents.

“What you’ll often find is that their vehicles do not have license plates, or they have the same license plates matched across six vehicles, or they have out of country license plates.”

California’s anti-ICE tag teams, euphemistically called “Community Defense Patrols,” have been going to Home Depot parking lots across Los Angeles, Orange County, Long Beach and San Diego, starting at 6am, Malone said.

They’ve been handing out “care packages” that include red “know your rights” cards as they wait for federal agents to show up.

Over the past months, ICE has conducted raids on the hardware chain at locations across Tinseltown, leading to clashes with protesters.

For decades, undocumented workers have gathered in Home Depot parking lots across the United States in search of contractors or homeowners to hire them off the books for day labor – a practice known as “shaping up.”

It’s turned the nation’s largest home improvement store into a deportation hotspot, resulting in dozens detained since the summer.

In one raid on a Sacramento Home Depot in June, five of the 11 migrants arrested had criminal histories, according to Border Patrol officials. They included Carlos Mata, a convicted sex offender who broke into a nearby apartment and assaulted someone as he attempted to flee ICE.

ICE has more than doubled its headcount in the past year, as agents descend on cities for large-scale operations to arrest migrants convicted of crimes or living in the US without legal status.

Meanwhile the NYC DSA has been mustering an army of 4,000 anti-ICE crusaders ahead of an expected imminent crackdown on the Big Apple.

Kiev Left With Few Hours Of Power Per Day In Subzero Temps

Ukraine and Russia have just wrapped up a second round of US-mediated negotiations in Abu Dhabi, but overnight Ukrainian cities were hit with another massive aerial attack on the national power grid.

"Russia is carrying out another massive attack on the Ukrainian power grid facilities," grid operator Ukrenergo said on Saturday. "Due to the damage caused by the enemy, emergency outages have been applied in most regions."

Ukrenergo said in its Telegram statement, "Currently, the attack is still ongoing. Restoration work will begin as soon as the security situation allows."

Dozens of missiles and hundreds of drones were unleashed, in what has become an almost nightly reality. Already rolling emergency blackouts have impacted towns and cities across Ukraine, but this fresh assault resulted in more blackouts.

According to some specifics in the NY Times:

The overnight strikes hit high-voltage transmission lines that are used to transmit electricity nationwide and that form the backbone of Ukraine’s power grid, as well as power plants and substations, said Denys Shmyhal, the country’s energy minister.

The damage prompted Kyiv to request emergency electricity assistance from Poland, Mr. Shmyhal said on social media. The strikes were the latest in a series of Russian attacks on Ukrainian energy infrastructure during a winter freeze.

Mr. Shmyhal said the bombardment on Saturday had forced operators at nuclear power plants to “unload” reactor units, meaning that workers reduced power output or shut down reactors as a precautionary measure when external electricity supplies became unstable.

Supplies were already in a dire situation after the even larger Feb. 3rd Russian attack on the energy grid.

At this point the capital area is expected to receive only four to six hours of electricity per day in February. Some residents are without heat and water, amid dangerously frigid temperatures, which in recent days have plunged down to -25°C (-13°F).

The European Union and NATO have been scrambling to come up with ways to both keep the lights on in Ukraine and defend its cities and vital infrastructure from being devastated by Russia.

All of this is part of Moscow's attrition strategy, knowing it can outlast, out-gun, and out-manpower Ukraine. This is also about inflicting broader pain and suffering among the population, in hopes of destabilizing the Zelensky government enough to replace him.

Trump admin uncovers ‘staggering’ $8.6B in suspected Calif. small business fraud linked to COVID

The federal Small Business Administration suspended more than 111,000 California borrowers after uncovering $8.6 billion in suspected fraudulent activity linked to the COVID pandemic, SBA Administrator Kelly Loeffler announced Friday.

“We have suspended nearly 112,000 borrowers tied to at least $9 billion in suspected fraud,” Loeffler said in a press release on Friday. “This staggering number represents the most significant crack-down on those who defrauded pandemic programs, and it illuminates the scale of corruption that the Biden Administration tolerated for years.”

The SBA reported that all in, it suspended 111,620 California borrowers who received 118,489 Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) and Economic Injury Disaster Loans (EIDL) loans, totaling $8.6 billion.

PPP loans were COVID-era federal relief programs that gave small businesses money to keep workers on the payroll, while EIDL loans are part of an SBA program that provides low-interest disaster relief loans to help businesses survive during times of disaster, including the pandemic.

“Once again, the Trump SBA is taking decisive action to deliver accountability in a state whose unaccountable welfare policies have created a culture of fraud and abuse at the expense of law-abiding taxpayers and small business owners,” Loffler continued.

The announcement follows California Attorney General Rob Bonta saying on Thursday that the Trump administration was promoting “baseless claims” of persistent fraud in the state.

“Trump claims California is wasting money when, in reality, our programs are helping lower-income individuals and lower-income families get healthcare, food and housing assistance,” Bonta said on Thursday.

“Trump claims, wrongly, California is perpetuating fraud when we are the victim,” he added.

Bonta’s office noted that California recovered nearly $2.7 billion in various fraud schemes across the last 10 years, “including by partnering with the federal government.”

Fox News Digital reached out to Bonta’s office on Friday for additional comment.

Newsom’s office directed Fox News Digital to the Governor Newsom Press Office X account, which mocked the SBA announcement.

“OMG. The Trump Administration found MAJOR FRAUD in programs THEY control, Newsom’s Press Office‘s X account posted, linking to a New York Post exclusive on the announcement.

“The state has no role running / administering these programs. Were they hiding this??? California doesn’t hide fraud … we fight it. Nearly 1,000 arrests + over $125 billion STOPPED under @CAGovernor Gavin Newsom.”

Loeffler continued that the alleged California fraud comes after the SBA suspended 6,900 borrowers in Minnesota associated with 7,900 potentially fraudulent PPP and EIDL loans, which totaled roughly $400 million.

“As we did in Minnesota, we are actively working with federal law enforcement to identify the criminals who defrauded American taxpayers, hold them to account, and recoup the stolen funds. As we continue our state-by-state work, our message is clear: pandemic-era fraudsters will not get a pass under this Administration,” Loeffler said, comparing California to its investigations in Minnesota.

Minnesota became ground zero for welfare and social services fraud surrounding the pandemic late in 2025, when investigators uncovered sweeping fraud schemes that could top $9 billion.
