South Korea's Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) sees no indication that North Korea is preparing to send additional troops to Russia imminently, Yonhap News Agency reported, citing lawmaker Yoo Yong-won.
The agency said Pyongyang continues preparations for a possible deployment, but no movement indicating that troops are about to be sent has been identified.
The DIA also assessed that more than 16,000 North Korean troops have been sent to Russia since October 2024.
South Korea's nuclear power plants are operating normally after an earthquake recently struck off the country's southwestern coast, Yonhap News Agency reported, citing Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power Co.
The 3.1-magnitude quake was recorded about 21 kilometers west of Haenam County. Authorities said seismic readings at all nuclear facilities remained below levels required to trigger an alarm.
The Hanbit Nuclear Power Plant, the closest facility to the epicenter, also reportedly recorded shaking well below its seismic design standard.

Japan Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi highlighted plans to offer companies tax credits of up to 50% for research and development in strategic technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI).
Takaichi said certification under the strengthened tax system is expected to begin in fiscal 2027. The measure is part of the amended Industrial Technology Enhancement Act and is intended to encourage investment in advanced technologies.
"We look forward to its active utilization by Japanese companies venturing into bold domestic investments," she stated.
