The Danish Joint Arctic Commander Major General Soren Andersen stated on Friday that the military has officially invited the United States to participate in upcoming military exercises in Greenland.
"Of course, the US as part of NATO is invited here," the commander told AFP. Addressing speculation on foreign activity, he confirmed that no Chinese or Russian vessels have been observed near Greenland's coast. The invitation arrives as the White House maintains that the presence of European troops will not alter the US President Donald Trump's interest in acquiring the Danish territory.
