'Iran slams EU sanctions as 'absurd, immoral, unlawful''

 Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baqaei criticized the new European Union sanctions against Iranian officials, calling the move "absurd," "immoral," and "utterly unlawful."

Responding to the remarks by EU's High Representative for Foreign and Security Policy Kaja Kallas, Baqaei said on X that the bloc was seeking to "punish Iran for exercising its inherent right to self-defense under Article 51 of the UN Charter." He added that the bloc continues to "arm, shield, and enable those very genocidal aggressors," referring to the United States and Israel.

"Such a stance amounts to nothing less than active complicity in international lawlessness and heinous atrocity crimes," Baqaei concluded.
