Oil prices rose in the wake of renewed hostilities between the US and Iran, with the latter country again blocking maritime traffic in the Strait of Hormuz, leading to fresh concerns about the impact of the blockade on global energy flows.
The two countries exchanged waves of strikes over the weekend, which also involved Iranian attacks on Gulf nations.
West Texas Intermediate (WTI) for August's deliveries jumped 3.46% at 6:22 pm ET, and Brent for September settlements rose 3.42% a minute later.
