The State Department announced on Friday that it approved a possible military sale to Oman for F-16 aircraft maintenance services and related equipment for $188 million.
Oman has requested a broad package of U.S. defense equipment, spare parts, upgrades, software, training, and technical/logistics support. The request covers aircraft components, communications and navigation systems, weapons-system software, engineering services, maintenance, calibration equipment, technical documentation, personnel training, and other related support.
"The proposed sale will improve Oman's capability to meet current and future threats by increasing interoperability with US and coalition partners and improving prospects for bilateral training and exercises with Oman's military forces. Oman already has F-16 aircraft in its inventory and will have no difficulty absorbing these articles and services into its armed forces," the statement showed.
