Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Saturday that Moscow had not agreed with Kyiv on a broader three-day ceasefire, as he met United States negotiators Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner in Moscow.
"The Ukrainian authorities have issued their call for a broader three-day ceasefire, but we never agreed on this with them," Putin said. He noted, however, that Ukraine had "significantly reduced" its attacks on Russian territory since midnight, while Russia had not launched airstrikes on Kyiv.
Putin said that he was aware Witkoff and Kushner planned to travel to Kyiv after Moscow, adding that "contacts of this kind are certainly always beneficial." He also said Russia would do everything possible to "ensure the safety of the negotiation process and the mediators."
