Clancy defense accuses male juror of lying to judge, argues he should be dismissed

 Lindsay Clancy returned to court Friday after her impassioned lawyer claimed a day earlier that one of the 12 jurors in her murder trial “refuses to listen to the law.”

Defense attorney Kevin Reddington fought Thursday for Judge William Sullivan to remove the lone juror, but the request was struck down.

However, outside court, Reddington insisted the matter wasn’t over, announcing there would be an “inquiry” by the judge at 9 a.m.

“I don’t know what the question is going to be,” he said. “We will have an argument about it … I think it will be in open court.”

The jury is tasked with deciding whether Clancy, 36, should be held criminally responsible for strangling her three kids Cora, 5, Dawson, 3, and Callan, 8 months, at their Duxbury home on Jan. 24, 2023.

Reddington asked the panel to find Clancy not guilty by reason of insanity based on the claim she was in the throes of severe postpartum psychosis — while prosecutors argue she carefully planned the killings.

Judge William Sullivan sent the jury to continue deliberating for a seventh day.

"If there are any notes in the future... just make sure you don't put down where everyone is numerically," Sullivan reminded the jury.

"You must follow the law as I give it to you, whether you agree with it or not," he explained.

Lindsay Clancy's lawyer, Kevin Reddington, lost his bid to have a holdout juror individually questioned by Judge William Sullivan.

"In this case here, I see no showing for a need for an inquiry for this particular juror," Sullivan said.

The panel of 12 deliberating jurors is made up of three men and nine women. Six alternates who sat through the trial's monthlong testimony are not part of deliberations.
