The super political action committee (PAC) of the world's richest man, Elon Musk, has begun spending on key Republican election battlegrounds, deploying more than $800,000 across seven Senate races and several competitive House districts, a Federal Election Commission filing showed on Thursday.
About 90% of the $800,475 disclosed went toward Senate contests. The largest amount, more than $247,000, was spent in Texas to support Republican Attorney General Ken Paxton and oppose Democrat James Talarico.
The PAC also spent about $170,000 in Maine, nearly $106,000 in Ohio, and smaller amounts in New Hampshire, Iowa, Michigan, and Alaska. The group is reportedly planning to spend as much as $120 million to help Republicans in the November midterm elections.
