Palantir Technologies Inc. Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Alex Karp confirmed on Thursday that the company continues to use Anthropic's Claude despite the United States Department of Defense (DOD) designating the developer a supply-chain risk.
"The Department of War is planning to phase out Anthropic; currently, it's not phased out," Karp told CNBC, adding that Palantir's products remain "integrated with Anthropic, and in the future, it will probably be integrated with other large language models."
The Pentagon last week labeled Anthropic a supply-chain risk but continues to use the models for certain military operations. Anthropic has sued the Trump administration seeking to overturn the designation and halt the DOD's restrictions. Meanwhile, Pentagon CTO Emil Michael said Claude could "pollute" the US defense supply chain.
