Iraqi General Company for Ports Director General Farhan al-Fartousi announced that the country has closed its oil ports after two tankers caught fire, reportedly after being targeted by Iran.
Speaking to Al-Iraqiya News, Al-Fartousi pointed out that the cause of the fire is currently unknown but suggested it could have been "a direct attack or a booby-trapped boat." He also said that one of the tankers was registered in Malta.
Moreover, Al-Fartousi added that commercial ports remain operational.
