United States President Donald Trump voiced his belief on Thursday that it is not "appropriate" for Iran's national team to participate in the upcoming World Cup, set to take place in the US, Canada and Mexico.
"The Iran National Soccer Team is welcome to The World Cup, but I really don't believe it is appropriate that they be there, for their own life and safety," Trump wrote on his Truth Social account.
The US president's remarks came after International football governing body FIFA's President Gianni Infantino stated yesterday that Trump told him Iran's national team is welcome to play at the World Cup.
