The United States Coast Guard has allowed a Russian oil tanker to reach Cuba amid the energy crisis the island has been facing recently, The New York Times (NYT) reported.
According to a US official familiar with the matter, the Russian oil tanker was some 15 miles from Cuba's shores as of Sunday afternoon and about to deliver approximately 730,000 barrels of oil. It will allegedly dock in Matanzanas later in the day.
The reported delivery would come despite the US embargo against Cuba, including sanctions on third countries shipping oil to the island.
