Sony Group's chip subsidiary, Sony Semiconductor Solutions, and Saudi Aramco announced on Monday that they signed a non-binding memorandum of understanding (MoU) to explore the development of AI for industrial equipment maintenance.
The MoU will combine Sony's sensing and edge AI technologies with Aramco's industrial data, infrastructure, and operational expertise to develop and test AI solutions in real-world industrial environments. The collaboration will explore applications including industrial sensing and monitoring, AI-enabled situation awareness and rapid response, and the integration of image and video intelligence with Aramco's AI platforms.
Aramco will provide data, infrastructure, and domain expertise, while Sony will contribute image-sensing, edge AI, and related technologies. The companies said the partnership will focus on practical applications for complex industrial operations.
