Meta Platforms Inc. spokesperson Andy Stone told Semafor on Friday that the company parted ways with workers it hired from Virtue AI, an AI safety startup. The decision came only four months after the employees joined.
"Unfortunately, the arrangement didn’t work out as planned," Stone stated. Nonetheless, he shared that AI safety is still Meta Superintelligence Labs' main focus.
Apart from Meta, Virtue previously collaborated with both OpenAI and Anthropic PBC, as well as the United States Commerce Department's National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST).
