US sanctions Hamas financing network

 The United States Treasury Department targeted a financial network suspected of supporting Hamas in its latest round of sanctions on Friday, designating two France-based individuals and two affiliated entities after being believed to have moved more than $2 million to the militant group through "deceptive charitable fronts" and "cryptocurrency channels."

"Terrorist organizations like Hamas rely on sophisticated financial facilitators and fraudulent schemes designed to exploit the public to sustain their operations. Treasury will continue to identify, isolate, and impose consequences on those who provide Hamas with the financial lifelines it needs to survive," Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent stated.

The sanctions also include designations against a Gaza-based deputy in the Hamas military wing, Saleem Abdallah Saleem al-Zaq, who is said to have overseen the financial network to transfer significant funds to the Hamas Al-Qassam Brigades.
