OpenAI's final funding round was marked by a combined $20 billion investment by Nvidia Corporation and SoftBank on Thursday, The Information reported, citing a person familiar with the matter.
The investment comes as the final tranche of the companies' respective $30 billion commitments to the ChatGPT maker. In March, the AI giant announced a record-breaking investment round valued at $852 billion.
Earlier today, SoftBank said in a statement to the Tokyo Stock Exchange that its final $10 billion tranche brings its cumulative investment in OpenAI to $64.6 billion, giving it an ownership interest of nearly 13%.
