British counterterrorism police said on Thursday it had arrested a 27-year-old dual UK-Iranian national in connection with the investigation into the incident near RAF Fairford, adding he is suspected of preparing terrorist acts.
The man was detained in Westminster under Section 5 of the Terrorism Act 2006. Police said a second man, a 26-year-old British national, had also been questioned under caution.
Officers have searched two properties in the same area as part of the investigation.
Five men in their 20s who were detained on Sept. 27 remain on police bail.
“The investigation into circumstances surrounding events in Gloucestershire is hugely complex, and our specialist teams are interrogating multiple lines of enquiry,” said Vicki Evans, Senior National Coordinator for Counter Terrorism Policing.
“As we've made clear, we're looking at all possible angles - including possible foreign state involvement. I'd like to thank the public for their continued support and patience whilst we work through this investigation.”
