Russian President Vladimir Putin delivered a speech at the Valdai Discussion Club on Thursday, highlighting the risks of using artificial intelligence (AI) in the military sphere.
"There are new forms of confrontation when AI and autonomous systems play an increasingly important role in warfare, especially in the decision-making process ... The automation and digitalization of warfare leads to its gamification, when bloodshed and the loss of human life turn out to be a computer game. This leads to degradation, the sliding back of humanity into barbarity," he underlined.
Putin talked about nuclear weapons as well, stating that their use needs to be avoided.
