OpenAI said to fire part of safety team over sensitive data

OpenAI Inc. terminated the contracts of three researchers who worked on its safety team because they allegedly shared the company's confidential information with a third-party artificial intelligence organization, the Wall Street Journal reported on Thursday, citing people familiar with the matter.

"We have parted ways with three individuals for violating our policies on accessing and handling sensitive company information ... Our investigation confirmed that these individuals mishandled sensitive information outside established company procedures, violating our policies and breaking the trust essential to our work," an OpenAI spokesperson reportedly told employees in a statement.

The report follows OpenAI's recent security incidents, including when its AI agents broke out of containment and hacked Hugging Face.
