'Iran offered access to bombed nuclear sites for sanctions relief – Bloomberg'

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi privately signaled that Tehran was prepared to restore UN nuclear inspectors’ access to facilities damaged in US and Israeli strikes in exchange for sanctions relief, Bloomberg reported Thursday.

Araghchi floated the proposal during meetings with European and Middle Eastern diplomats on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York, according to people familiar with the discussions who spoke to Bloomberg on condition of anonymity.

The proposal would mark a potential concession in stalled talks with Washington, with access to Iran’s bombed nuclear sites remaining a major dispute between Tehran and the International Atomic Energy Agency.

The IAEA has repeatedly sought renewed access to damaged facilities, including Fordow, Natanz and Isfahan, as it tries to verify Iran’s nuclear material and activities following the strikes.
