FlyDubai attack suspect said to be known security risk

 The suspected attacker in the recent FlyDubai incident was previously identified as a security risk, ABC News reported, citing sources familiar with the matter. The man, an Omani citizen, served as co-pilot on the flight to Israel on September 30 and allegedly stabbed the pilot before being restrained by passengers.

According to the report, Oman Air suspended the suspect from flying for security reasons in 2024, while he was in training, after discovering he possessed "extremist material." He continued working for the airline in an "administrative role," and it is currently unclear how he was allowed to be on the flight as co-pilot.
