Bayer AG announced on Friday its plans to invest up to $2.2 billion in a new pharmaceutical manufacturing site in New Albany, Ohio, the United States.
According to the German healthcare group, the new plant is expected to create about 600 permanent jobs, in addition to 1,500 construction jobs. The modular campus will combine drug substance and drug product manufacturing with advanced digital technologies to support Bayer's portfolio in oncology, cardiovascular, and renal care.
"Bayer has long seen the United States as a key manufacturing base and innovation hub. This landmark investment underscores our commitment," CEO Bill Anderson noted.
