'UK must work with EU to counter China's EV dominance'

 UK Trade Minister Anas Sarwar stated on Thursday that London and Brussels must "work together and act in lockstep" to address China's dominance in the automotive industry.

"The more that the UK and the EU work together ... the better it is for both the UK and the European Union," Sarwar told Politico on the sidelines of the German-British Business Summit, adding that talks with European partners on tariffs for Chinese electric vehicles are ongoing. "We've got muscular protectionism on one side, we've got rapid expansionism on another side, and governments across the world of similar economy sizes to ourselves in Germany are having to work through what does that mean for our supply chains," Sarwar stressed.

Earlier this year, the bloc raised tariffs on Chinese-made electric vehicles from 7.8% to 35.3%
