Ukraine captures enemy Russian position using only robots, no humans'

The Ukrainian military captured a Russian position using only ground robots and aerial drones — completely unassisted by any infantry, for the first time in the war, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced.

No lives were lost when the robot force went into highly dangerous enemy-occupied territory and forced the soldiers there to surrender, he said in a video address to defense workers this week, without revealing additional details about the mission.

“The future is already on the front line — and Ukraine is building it. These are our ground robotic systems,” Zelensky said, according to Business Insider.

Over the last three months, Ukrainian ground robots have carried out more than 22,000 missions on the front lines, according to the president.

“In other words, over 22,000 times, lives were saved,” he said.

“This is about high technology protecting the highest value — human life,” he continued.

Ukraine reportedly has used a record number of land robots to fend off invading Russian forces, as the war-torn country continues to ramp up its use of killer droids on the battlefield.

“The front line is more like ‘Terminator,’” a drone operator with Ukraine’s 25th Airborne Brigade, named Bambi, told the Guardian earlier this month. “A land robot arrives at your position and there is nothing you can do about it.

“You can shoot a person in the chest and they stop firing. If you shoot a ground robot, it doesn’t feel pain.”

Kyiv first deployed ground robots to the battlefield in 2024 and in the past two years, the use of robots shot up exponentially — with production increasing nearly sixfold in 2025, emerging as the fastest growing part in Ukraine’s defense technology sector.

Maine becomes first state to put temporary moratorium on data centers

The Maine legislature voted in favor of a bill that would put a temporary moratorium on data centers, making us the first state in the country to do so.

The Department of Energy Resources would be required to create the Maine Data Center Coordination Council to ensure that Maine is ready for such facilities.

Governor Janet Mills has supported an exemption to this law for the Jay Paper Mill, pointing out they are reusing existing industrial infrastructure, and the project is expected to bring much-needed jobs, economic activity and tax revenue to the region.

The proposal that passed did not include that exemption.

There is no word yet whether Governor Mills plans to sign the bill as is.

Trump backs government AI safeguards in banking system, acknowledges risks

U.S. President Donald Trump acknowledged the risks artificial intelligence posed to the banking system and said there should be government safeguards, but also believed the technology could make the banking system better and safer, according to an interview broadcast on Wednesday.

Asked if AI could undermine confidence in the banking system, Trump told Fox Business Network: "Yeah, probably. But it could also be the kind of technology that allows greatness in the banking system, makes it better and safer and more secure."

On whether government should have some safeguards on AI technology - a "kill switch," - Trump said, "There should be."

Trump's interview with "Mornings with Maria" was taped on Tuesday.

The U.S. president's comments came after cybersecurity experts warned this week that Anthropic's new AI model, Mythos, could supercharge complex cyberattacks and poses significant challenges to the banking industry with its legacy technology systems.

Anthropic declined to comment on their warnings. It has said Claude Mythos Preview will not be made generally available.
