UK review finds 'persistent' foreign interference

 An independent review into foreign interference in the United Kingdom published on Wednesday found that the country faces a "persistent problem of foreign interests seeking to exert influence on, and to interfere in" British politics. The report found that the main forms of interference are gaining direct leverage over political parties and the political process, and attempts to create division and distrust among the wider public through social media and other channels.

Housing, Communities, and Local Government Secretary Steve Reed told lawmakers that the government is immediately imposing a cap of £100,000 on political donations from UK nationals living overseas. In addition, a moratorium on all political donations made through cryptocurrency will come into force today.
