United States President Donald Trump said on Friday that he holds Canada responsible for the mismanagement of their forests, which led to pollution in the air spreading to the US, noting that the costs incurred from that pollution will be added to Canada's tariffs.
"The cost is incalculable! Canada has refused to engage in basic Forest Management and Debris Removal, knowing that such refusal will lead to exactly this result. This is Willful Negligence, and becoming a yearly occurrence, costing the United States Billions of Dollars, which cost of this pollution must of necessity be added to the TARIFFS Canada is currently paying," Trump said in a post on Truth Social, adding that he will speak with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney.
The US president also said that his trade policies led to Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (TSMC) investing $265 billion in the US.
