United States Vice President JD Vance said artificial intelligence (AI) companies should be held responsible for the risks their technologies create rather than seek government protection.
In an interview with 2Way portal, Vance warned about AI models being trained to hack computers, access financial information and invade people's privacy, arguing that companies should not expect government bailouts for problems they create. "If you're creating that risk as a private corporation, you should suffer the consequences," he said.
Vance also acknowledged the potential benefits of AI, including advances in medical treatments. He stressed that policymakers should seek to "maximize the good and minimize the downside."
