Twenty-five Iranian lawmakers were unable to cast ballots in Sunday’s virtual parliamentary vote on the new defense minister because they did not have internet access, a member of parliament’s presiding board said.
“Of the 285 lawmakers, 277 were present at the session, but 25 of them were unable to register their votes because they did not have access to the internet,” Alireza Salimi told the Fars news agency.
He said eight lawmakers were absent, on leave or on official duty.
Mehrdad Akhlaghi was approved as defense minister with 237 votes in favor.
