The world's richest man, Elon Musk, said that his company, Neuralink, which makes implantable brain–computer interfaces (BCIs), will "help millions of people."
Musk made the comment on X in a reply to a post by Jake Schneider, one of 21 people who have received the implant during clinical trials. Schneider, who has ALS, said that Neuralink has "become an extension of my body and a lifeline that has made me feel more human" and has given him "some of the independence back that ALS has stolen" from him.
Earlier in the week, Neuralink said that it logged over 50,000 hours of brain recording data, with the first patient, Nolan Arbaugh, to receive the implant in 2024 accounting for 10,000 of them.
