Canadian opposition leader urges deportation of IRGC operatives over shootings

Iran is suspected of financing hired-gun attacks targeting Jewish institutions, businesses and the US Consulate in Toronto, Canadian opposition leader Pierre Poilievre said Friday, calling for the deportation of Revolutionary Guards operatives unlawfully in Canada.

“Iran's terrorist regime is suspected of financing gun-for-hire shootings on Canadian soil,” Poilievre wrote on X, sharing a CBC News investigation. He said Jewish Canadians and Iranian dissidents were being terrorized and called for authorities to “identify and deport every IRGC operative unlawfully in Canada immediately.”

The CBC investigation earlier this week identified about a dozen shootings that may have been financed by Tehran, including attacks on synagogues, a school and businesses. Toronto police have confirmed connections between several hired-gun attacks and are investigating possible foreign involvement, but have not yet established who financed them.
