'CNN: X suspends users over suspected Russian midterms propaganda'

The social media platform X is said to have identified and suspended 15 accounts suspected of spreading Russian disinformation ahead of the US midterm elections next week, CNN reported on Friday, citing a disinformation watchdog.

The suspensions were carried out on October 29 and included profiles with more than 100,000 followers, although some accounts remained active as of Friday. According to the watchdog, the profiles had been spreading false claims about Democratic Senate candidates.

Earlier this month, X announced that it had suspended more than 13,000 accounts suspected of participating in foreign influence operations linked to Iran, Russia, and China, targeting US political candidates ahead of the congressional elections.
