Iraqi Shiite armed group Kataib Sayyid al-Shuhada denied on Saturday that it had agreed to surrender its weapons, rejecting remarks by Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein about understandings concerning armed factions’ arsenals.
In a statement, the Tehran-backed group’s media council said it had signed a “sovereignty agreement” alongside four other factions, parties in the Coordination Framework and the prime minister, and remained committed to its provisions.
But it said the document did not include handing over weapons and denied having announced, adopted or signed any position concerning its arsenal.
