Bild Reports 82% Dissatisfaction with Merz in Latest INSA Findings

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz draws dissatisfaction from 82% of respondents in INSA findings published by Bild on November 7, with just 13% satisfied, according to additional reporting by Merkur.

Bild describes the result as a new high in dissatisfaction with Merz in the INSA findings it reports. The figure measures views of his work, not party voting intentions.

Discontent Rises Since January

Dissatisfaction with Merz increased by two percentage points from early October, Merkur reported, citing Bild and dpa. In January, the corresponding figures were 67% dissatisfied and 24% satisfied.

A separate question about the federal government produced the same headline proportions: 82% dissatisfied and 13% satisfied. Government dissatisfaction rose three points from early October, while satisfaction fell one point, according to Merkur.

Those responses assess the government and the chancellor separately; they do not establish that the same respondents were dissatisfied with both.

AfD Leads the Voting-Intention Table

An INSA voting-intention survey for Bild am Sonntag, published on November 7, puts the AfD at 29% and the governing CDU/CSU bloc at 19%, a 10-point gap. The SPD stands at 14%.

The Greens register 15%, followed by Linke at 10%, the FDP at 5% and BSW at 3%. Other parties account for 5%, according to tables published by Wahlrecht and DAWUM.

The CDU/CSU and SPD figures add up to 33%. That total represents hypothetical voting intentions for the governing parties, not a measure of satisfaction with their coalition.

Clash Report has previously covered the AfD’s polling lead and Merz’s warnings about an AfD state-election victory.

What the Party Survey Measures

The voting-intention survey used telephone and online interviews with 1,204 eligible voters between November 2 and 6, according to the poll tables.

Those methodological details apply to the party survey. The accessible reporting does not establish an identical sample or fieldwork period for the questions on satisfaction with Merz and the government.
