The commander of the Revolutionary Guards in Tehran announced the formation of Iran's first Janfada brigade and said its fighters would soon be deployed to operational areas in southern and western Iran.
The Janfada initiative is part of the Islamic Republic's effort to mobilize civilians into organized paramilitary formations, providing military training and preparing them for potential combat and irregular warfare operations alongside the Revolutionary Guards.
Hassan Hassanzadeh said Monday that the first brigade had completed additional training and been equipped, with preparations underway for specialized live-fire exercises.
Speaking at the opening of the fourth Janfada training center in Tehran's Tajrish Square, he said further brigades and battalions would soon be organized based on their readiness.
Hassanzadeh also claimed that more than 33 million Iranians had expressed willingness to participate in the Janfada campaign, saying the scale of public participation had once again "surprised Iran's enemies."
