SpaceX said to seek network access via Boost Mobile

SpaceX has held discussions with EchoStar, the parent company of discount carrier Boost Mobile, about launching its own wireless service in the United States, The Washington Post reported on Monday, citing two people familiar with the negotiations.

The outlet added that SpaceX CEO Elon Musk has personally discussed the potential deal, including meeting EchoStar Chairman Charlie Ergen last month. The discussions could lead to SpaceX acquiring Boost Mobile or securing access to its wireless network, which relies on agreements with AT&T and T-Mobile US.

Such access could help SpaceX enter the US wireless market, estimated at $235 billion by MoffettNathanson. However, the proposed service may require approval from the major carriers. Verizon, T-Mobile, and AT&T have reportedly rejected Musk's requests for cooperation in recent months.
