Health systems are rethinking the IT C-suite

 Health systems are creating and expanding executive roles to oversee AI, digital transformation and emerging technologies, adding new titles to their C-suites.

Here are new IT roles hospitals and health systems have added to their C-suites since Jan. 6:

1. University of Chicago Medicine named Josh Denny, MD, as its inaugural senior vice president for AI and precision medicine and chief data officer. Dr. Denny previously spent more than two decades at Nashville, Tenn.-based Vanderbilt Health.
   
   
2. Dallas-based UT Southwestern Medical Center named Warren D’Souza, PhD, its inaugural chief artificial intelligence officer.
   
   
3. New Hyde Park, N.Y.-based Northwell Health appointed Brian Kim, MD, its first chief biotechnology officer. In the role, he will oversee the health system’s biotechnology strategy and intellectual property management while continuing his research.
   
   
4. San Diego-based Sharp HealthCare has named Tommy Korn, MD, as its first chief spatial computing officer.
   
   
5. Salt Lake City-based University of Utah Health named James Hotaling, MD, as its inaugural chief innovation officer.
   
   
6. Omaha-based Nebraska Medicine named Michael Hasselberg, PhD, RN, at its inaugural chief transformation and digital officer.
   
   
7. Los Angeles-based Cedars-Sinai promoted Shaun Miller, MD, to the newly created role of chief medical informatics officer.
   
   
8. St. Louis-based SSM Health promoted Saad Chaudhry to chief digital and information officer.
   
   
9. Altamonte Springs, Fla.-based AdventHealth named Rob Purinton as its new chief AI officer.
