A US federal judge on Wednesday approved Paramount's settlement with 12 Democratic state attorneys general, clearing the final remaining legal hurdle to its $111 billion merger with Warner Bros. Discovery.
US District Judge Araceli Martinez-Olguin approved the settlement in the antitrust case brought by the states seeking to block the deal. The merger has already received regulatory clearance in 68 jurisdictions, including from the US Justice Department.
Paramount has tentatively scheduled the transaction to close on October 6, according to regulatory filings. The combined company will bring together Paramount and Warner Bros. movie studios, HBO Max and Paramount+, as well as television networks including CBS, CNN, MTV, TBS, Comedy Central, and Food Network.
