US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said Wednesday there were no discussions about extending the deadline for the final withdrawal of US forces from Iraq.
Rubio said Washington had “zero doubt” about the Iraqi prime minister’s commitment to bringing all armed groups under state control, adding that at least three militias had disarmed and joined government forces while another remained a significant challenge.
“We’re going to do everything we can to help him achieve results,” Rubio said, arguing that all weapons in Iraq should be placed under the national government’s control.
