Flights by Iranian airlines to Azerbaijan have been temporarily suspended from Tuesday because of US sanctions on Iran’s aviation sector, Azerbaijan’s State Civil Aviation Agency said.
The agency advised affected passengers to contact the relevant airlines or the outlets where they purchased their tickets.
Azerbaijan Airlines, or AZAL, also said the suspension took effect on September 22 following a new US sanctions package targeting Iran’s aviation sector.
The suspension comes a day after Turkish Airlines said it had halted all flights to Iran until at least March 2027, as Washington steps up pressure on Iran’s aviation sector.
