Five Iranian airlines sanctioned by the United States have switched their ground-handling operations at Istanbul Airport to Turkish company FUGO as Washington steps up pressure on companies providing services to Iranian aviation, Haber Aero reported Tuesday.
Qeshm Air, Iran Airtour, Soroush Air, ATA Airlines and Taban Air began using FUGO for ground services on Sept. 23, according to the Turkish aviation outlet.
The move comes after other Turkish ground-handling companies moved to end services for Iranian carriers amid the threat of US secondary sanctions.
US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent has warned that companies providing services including fuel, landing assistance and ticketing to sanctioned Iranian airlines could themselves face US sanctions.
