One crew member was killed and 27 others evacuated after the Antigua and Barbuda-flagged merchant vessel Cape Dao was targeted 2.5 nautical miles off Oman’s Musandam governorate, the Omani Maritime Security Centre said Wednesday.
The attack caused a fire in the engine room. An Omani naval vessel evacuated the crew and provided medical care, the center said, without identifying who carried out the attack.
A Royal Navy of Oman vessel, in cooperation and coordination with the relevant authorities, carried out an evacuation operation for the crew of the Antigua and Barbuda-flagged merchant vessel CAPE DAO.
