Mysterious drones swarmed US Air Force base home to nuclear bombers

More than a dozen unsanctioned drones repeatedly swarmed a US Air Force base that is home to a nuclear bomber fleet — and were able to resist efforts to bring them down via jamming technology, according to military officials.

The restricted airspace of Barksdale Air Force Base in Bossier City, Louisiana, was infiltrated by “multiple unauthorized drones” between March 9 and March 15, a base spokesperson told The Post.

The 22-acre installation located east of Shreveport, hosts a fleet of B-52 bombers which can carry out nuclear strikes with “worldwide precision,” according to the Air Force.

As an Air Force Global Strike Command base, Barksdale also plays a crucial role in the Air Force’s nuclear defense capabilities.

The first mysterious drone breach involved an “unmanned aerial system” that set off a shelter-in-place order and terror alert, ABC News reported.

Following incidents were reportedly more extensively — involving 12 to 15 long-range drones swarming the no-fly zone, according to an internal military briefing reviewed by the outlet.

Over the course of the week, BAFB Security Forces witnessed “multiple waves” of drones over “sensitive areas of the base,” ABC News reported.

The ominous devices appeared to be “testing security responses,” and they tried to enter and leave the base without being detected.

Officials noted that the incidents “pose a significant threat to public safety and national security.”

The invasions reportedly forced the base to shut down its runway for take-offs and landings, which put aircrafts already in flight at risk.

Drone activity occurred daily, except on March 13 and 14, according to ABC. The flights reportedly lasted about four hours each time and routes varied, and the devices used special signals that blocked the military’s attempts to stop them.

“Certainly, it seemed to be more than just your average drone enthusiast who just pushed it too far,” ABC News contributor Mick Mulroy, a former deputy assistant secretary of defense, told the outlet.

“It looked like this was deliberate and intentional to see just how they would react.”

Flying drones over a military base is not only safety issue — it’s a criminal offense under federal law.

The drones raised particular concern because of the B-52 bombers being held at the site.2nd Bomb Wing
“We are working closely with federal and local law enforcement agencies to investigate these incursions. The security of our installation and the safety of our people are top priorities, and we will continue to vigilantly monitor our airspace,” a Barksdale spokesperson said.

Duwaji created 'artwork' for DSA’s anti-Israel campaign

Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s wife was deeply involved in a democratic socialist activist campaign pushing political candidates critical of Israel and backing a controversial bill targeting pro-Israel charities, The Post has learned.

First lady Rama Duwaji, who Mamdani has bizarrely claimed isn’t a public figure, created artwork for the New York City chapter of the Democratic Socialists of America as the lefty group unleashed a public campaign called “PalestineOnTheBallot.com.”

The effort promoted candidates running in Democratic Party primaries who snubbed funding from the American Israel Public Affairs Committee and vowed to support the Not on Our Dime Act — a bill that would punish or dissolve registered charities found to support “Israeli settler violence.”

The bill was sponsored by her husband, who was then a state Assemblyman.

Duwaji, a professional illustrator, provided graphics for the DSA’s “PalestineOnTheBallot.com” effort, The Post has learned.

“The Democratic primary is on June 25 and Palestine is on the Ballot, even for your NY State Reps,” the animated message on TikTok and Instagram for the DSA said.

“Are your New York Reps pro-ceasefire? Do they want to end subsidies for Israeli war crimes? Are they taking money from AIPAC of NY?”

The animation shows a ballot, where voters can plug in their address to see where their elected officials stand on the Palestinian-Israeli war in Gaza, along with illustrations of voters.

“Go to Palestine.com to see where they stand. Then, make your voting plan and get out the vote for pro-Palestinian socialists who need your support,” the pitch said.

“Animation by Rama Duwaji.”

The PalestineOnTheBallot.com website also called on supporters to volunteer for ex-Rep. Jamaal Bowman’s failed re-election campaign. A foe of Israel, Bowman was trounced in the Democratic primary by George Latimer.

Duwaji was given credit for the illustrations in the TikTok video’s caption.@NYC_DSA/TikTok

The revelation of her gig with the anti-Israel DSA comes after old tweets surfaced of Duwaji liking social media posts cheering Hamas’ Oct. 7, 2023 onslaught against Israel, praising Palestinian terrorists and criticizing the US military.

Duwaji also provided illustrations for an antisemitic author, The Post previously reported.

One pro-Israel activist said Duwaji’s high-profile role in the DSA anti-Israel campaign is further proof that she and her hubby Mamdani are two peas in a pod united in their rhetoric.

“They’re both filled with vile hatred for the Jewish people of Israel,” said Dov Hikind, a former Brooklyn state Assemblyman who represented heavily orthodox Jewish Borough Park and founded Americans Against Antisemitism.

“The first lady is more radical than Mamdani is and that’s saying quite a lot. She’s dangerous and he’s dangerous. They’re radical Islamists. What a great couple. Mazel Tov!”

Mamdani, a proud member of the DSA, was one of the left wing group’s leading lawmakers in Albany. In October 2024 the DSA was the first political organization to support his successful run for mayor last year.

Duwaji’s activism flies in the face of Mamdani’s recent claim that his wife is just a “private person,” a line he rolled out earlier this month after reports surfaced of her anti-Israel rants and associations, critics said.

“Does anybody believe she’s a private citizen?” Hikind said.

Duwaji’s work on the DSA’s Palestine on The Ballot campaign shows her taking a more active public role alongside her future husband in backing the Hamas-led Palestinians in Gaza and accusing the Jewish state of committing “war crimes,” Hikind and others said.

Mamdani’s own anti-Israel activism continues to be a source of tension with some pro-Israel Jews.

He supports the boycott, divestment and sanctions campaign against Israel, which the Anti-Defamation League considers a form of antisemitism for trying to deligtimize and damage the economy of the Jewish state.

The mayor has said he would arrest Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu if he came to New York, claiming he’s a war criminal.

Last week on St. Patrick’s Day, he again accused Israel of committing “genocide” in Gaza — a day after meeting with Orthodox Jewish leaders and vowing to crack down on antisemitism in the city.

Mamdani and Duwaji had no immediate comment.

Florida Cities Enforce Curfews And Mass Arrests After Spring Break Chaos

Do certain groups of people deliberately seek out chaos?  Do they revel in it so much that they choose to create it from thin air wherever they go?  Or, are they completely unaware of the destruction that follows them around?  One thing is certain - they obviously don't care about how it affects the people around them.

Spring Break in Florida has always been a wild affair attracting masses of young vacationers from across the US to white sandy beaches, condos and the night life.  Decades ago, the locals were complaining just as they are now, but in recent years the demographics have changed dramatically and with this change comes the inevitable increase in random criminal violence.  It's not just loud parties and DUIs anymore.

Some residents are now referring to these incidents as "Ghetto Spring Break".  With the demographic being pushed out of traditional getaways like Miami Beach due to higher fees and restrictions, they have surged into alternatives like Fort Lauderdale and Daytona Beach.  This has led to skyrocketing crime and essentially unusable tourist spots.

A large percentage of the crime is committed by minors and college age vacationers.  Underage teens roam in massive groups unaccompanied by parents is a common scene.  Authorities made more than 130 arrests last weekend, including 84 in Daytona Beach and 49 in New Smyrna Beach.  Officials say they specifically plan to bring the hammer down on "takeover events" which involve spontaneous parties announced on social media that takeover random streets, beaches or city blocks.  Such events usually end with violence.

Daytona has been forced to declare a state of emergency and implement sweeping restrictions including a youth curfew from 8pm to 6am and zero-tolerance enforcement for violence, fighting, disorderly conduct, etc.  Authorities have responded with a heavy police presence.

Similar measures have been used to great effect in deterring the "usual suspects" from showing up to certain cities during the season.  The fatigue is very real, so much so that some traditional travel destinations are willing to sacrifice some tourist dollars in order to avoid gaining a reputation as a spring break cesspool.

For example, violent crime reports and arrests for spring break used to make up 20% of Miami's yearly total, and this spike occurred in the span of just a couple of weeks.  Miami, dealing with dozens of shootings per season and thousands of arrests, decided to start cracking down on festivities in 2025.

New measures included parking garage closures in South Beach, restricted beach access (e.g., certain entrances closing at 6 p.m.), sobriety checkpoints, potential curfews, high parking fees ($100 in some areas), no coolers/tents/tables/loud music on the beach, increased police presence and targeted road closures.  Incidents are down 21% so far this year, and there are no reported spring break related shootings.

Florida cities are no longer embracing the concept of "grinning and bearing" this kind of tourist influx in exchange for quick cash.  The new regulations and fees also prove that cities are capable, to some extend, of filtering out the worst perpetrators of seasonal crime.  The first step to eliminating mindless mobs is to stop enabling mindless mobs.

'Rutte: NATO still assessing Diego Garcia strike'

NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte acknowledged on Sunday that the alliance cannot verify the claim about the unconfirmed missile launch by Iran reportedly directed at Diego Garcia, something Tehran has initially denied.

"We cannot confirm that at the moment," Rutte stated on CBS, noting that the matter remains under assessment. When pressed on whether Iran possesses the capability to strike European capitals, he offered no definitive conclusion, instead referencing the need for continued evaluation.

"But if it is true, it means they already have that capability. If it is not true, we know they are very close to having that capability," he insisted. The rockets allegedly failed to reach Diego Garcia.

Georgia Governor Signs Bill Suspending State Gas Tax For 60 Days

by Aldgra Fredly via The Epoch Times (emphasis ours),

Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp signed a bill on March 20 suspending the state’s gasoline tax for 60 days, the first such move taken by a U.S. state since the U.S.–Israeli war with Iran began in late February.

The legislation, dubbed HB 1199, will temporarily suspend Georgia’s fuel taxes—33.3 cents per gallon on gasoline and 37.3 cents per gallon on diesel—for 60 days, which took effect immediately after Kemp’s approval.

The governor signed a separate bill into law on the same day, authorizing a one-time special income tax rebate of up to $250 for single filers, $375 for heads of households, and $500 for couples, according to a statement.

Eligible taxpayers in Georgia could receive the tax rebate within six to eight weeks, according to the Georgia Department of Revenue.

“Hardworking Georgians know best how to spend their money, not the government,” Kemp said in the statement announcing his approval of the two bills.

That’s why I’m proud to sign these bills and, along with the General Assembly, deliver meaningful tax relief on top of the other measures we’ve taken in recent years,” the governor added.

Georgia’s lieutenant governor, Burt Jones, said in a separate statement that the legislation would deliver nearly $1.2 billion in state income tax refunds to taxpayers.

“The two bills signed today provide significant and immediate tax relief and further our commitment to be good stewards of taxpayer dollars,” Jones said in the statement.

Georgia has sought to help residents manage rising oil costs as the national average price for a gallon of gas reached $3.91 on March 20, according to the American Automobile Association (AAA).

Shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, a vital maritime chokepoint for global oil and gas shipments, has been disrupted since the United States and Israel began military operations against Iran on Feb. 28 and Tehran retaliated by firing missiles and drones at Israel and U.S. military assets and targets across Gulf nations.

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said on March 18 that President Donald Trump had issued a 60-day waiver of the Jones Acta federal law that requires shipments between U.S. points to be carried on U.S.-built vessels.

Leavitt said the temporary waiver was intended to “mitigate the short-term disruptions” in the oil market as U.S.-Israeli military operations, dubbed Operation Epic Fury, in Iran continue.

This action will allow vital resources like oil, natural gas, fertilizer, and coal to flow freely to U.S. ports for sixty days, and the Administration remains committed to continuing to strengthen our critical supply chains,” Leavitt wrote on X.

A number of countries have signaled support for keeping the Strait of Hormuz open after Trump called on nations to assist in policing the waterway, where Iranian attacks have essentially halted commercial traffic.

Leaders from multiple countries—including the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Japan, Canada, South Korea, New Zealand, Denmark, Latvia, Slovenia, Estonia, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Czechia, Romania, Bahrain, and Lithuania—issued a joint statement on March 20 saying they were prepared to contribute to “appropriate efforts” to ensure safe passage through the strait.

The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world’s most critical energy chokepoints, with about 20 percent of global oil supplies passing through the waterway.

Senate Democrats Are Quietly Plotting To Oust Chuck Schumer

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer has had a fractured relationship with the Democratic Party base ever since he voted to fund the government last March. Unfortunately for him, time hasn’t healed that wound, and there’s a growing resistance to Schumer that hopes to oust him from his leadership position after the midterms.

The Wall Street Journal, drawing on more than four dozen interviews with Democratic senators, candidates, current and former congressional aides, activists, and advisers, found widespread unease about the New York senator's grip on the party's direction. The report makes it clear that Schumer’s own colleagues increasingly see him as an anchor, slowing their response to President Trump, steering primaries toward centrists they don't want, and draining the fundraising pipeline that Democrats desperately need heading into the midterm elections.

According to the report, last month, Sen. Chris Murphy of Connecticut met with progressive activists at a French restaurant in Georgetown. The conversation turned to what to do about Schumer. According to people familiar with the dinner, Murphy disclosed that some lawmakers had already been running informal vote counts to see whether enough support existed to remove Schumer from his leadership post. Murphy added that Schumer had enough backing to survive. But the fact that anyone was counting at all said something.

Murphy has since walked it back, carefully. "Could someone infer from that that someone was keeping a count? Maybe, but that's not what I meant," he told reporters. "I meant that he has the support of the caucus."

But Murphy’s backpedaling doesn’t change the reality. Murphy is reportedly part of a group of senators who have been actively canvassing colleagues about their frustrations with Schumer. This group, nicknamed “Fight Club,” (hey...) is a Signal chat group where progressives coordinate strategy around opposing Schumer's preferred candidates in key 2026 races. The Fight Club's grievance, at its core, is that Schumer is tilting the playing field toward centrists while an insurgent energy on the left goes untapped. The group includes Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass) and Sen. Tina Smith (D-Minn.), and it appears that Warren has been initiating those conversations directly. Smith's advisers have gone further, holding discussions with other Senate staff about concrete scenarios to challenge Schumer's leadership.

The concern isn't purely ideological. It's financial, and that's where things get uncomfortable. Schumer's aligned super PAC, Senate Majority PAC, got outpaced by its Republican counterpart last year. Entering 2026, the Democratic super PAC had $36 million in cash on hand and $12.4 million in debt. The GOP's equivalent had $100 million on hand and zero debt.

In the money primary - the one that quietly decides Senate races before a single vote is cast - Schumer's side is getting lapped.

Making matters worse for Schumer, meetings among Democratic Senate chiefs of staff, which should be routine operational sessions, have reportedly become forums for airing discontent with Schumer's stewardship. The pressure building in those rooms is aimed at a specific outcome: Schumer commits to retiring from the Senate when his seat is up for re-election in 2028, clearing a path for whoever comes next.

That next person may already have a name attached. Sen. Brian Schatz of Hawaii has been identified as Schumer's own preferred successor. Apparently, Schumer has thought this through enough to have a pick. But Schatz isn't moving until Schumer moves first. His posture, per senators and aides familiar with the discussions, is to wait it out.

Schumer may have the votes to survive a mutiny for now. But his colleagues are doing the math, his fundraising is underperforming, his preferred candidates are generating internal blowback, and the party seems anxious to see him go. The caucus isn't in open revolt yet, but it’s not looking good for Chuck Schumer.
