The Syrian government announced on Tuesday that it reached an agreement with the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) on the integration of the Al-Hasakah province in the northeast of the country. The area was predominantly held by the SDF before the Syrian regime's recent military operation.
Following a meeting between Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa (pictured) and SDF head Mazloum Abdi, Al-Sharaa's office said the SDF has four days for consultations on a plan to integrate the province. Meanwhile, Syrian forces will not enter the cities of Al-Hasakah and Qamishli or Kurdish villages. As previously negotiated, Abdi will propose candidates for the Al-Hasakah governor and deputy defense minister, as well as a list of people to serve in the Syrian assembly and state institutions.
